The debate is nothing new, though it’s been reinvigorated in recent years. Historically, single men predominated. Lately, the pendulum has swung toward marrieds, and some even suggest that singles should not serve as pastors. When I wrote the article, I had served as a single pastor for 19 years—14 as a senior pastor. Over the past three years, something special and wonderful happened to me—I joined the ranks of married pastors. The beautiful tsunami of parenting has recently crashed into my pastoral ministry as well. Through it all I’ve seen the advantages and struggles of pastoring both as a single and as a married man.

I have been married and now and the proud mother of a beautiful little girl. After my divorce God revealed to me that I needed to wait and be still in my new-found singleness. By Mary Gormandy White Every youth leader needs a bevy of games and activities on hand for youth group. Keeping a ‘stock’ of games and ideas to use in a pinch will prove to be a lifesaver. Design your activities with your group member’s ages in mind, and the kids will have fun no matter how silly or serious the activities are. Fun Game Activities Who said youth group can’t be a little on the silly side?
These types of activities can help to bring shy individuals out of their shells and get them to participate in future activities. Bubble Gum Blow-Out This is a relay game using bubble gum and a piece of paper affixed at an easily reachable height on the wall for all players for each team. Each player has to race to a table on the other side of the room. They then have to pick up a piece of bubble gum, unwrap it and start chewing it.
They then have to blow a bubble and stick it to a piece of paper on the wall for their team using only their mouth. The team who finishes first, wins. This can be more difficult if you use old-fashioned bubble bum, such as Bazooka. Have baby bottle races. Fill baby bottles with juice and players have to drink it to see who can finish first use 4 ounce bottles. Players can also have a baby buggy race to see who can cross a finish line first with a player pushing and the other player riding in a baby buggy stroller.

A voluntary rescue person comes by on his yellow raft. But the man on top of his house refuses to go. Roof Man is now on top of his chimney, nervously looking down at certain death and destruction.
Fortunately, a Red Cross volunteer swings by in a canoe and offers to ride Roof Man to safety. But Roof Man refuses. He is carried away by the current and drowns. God speaks through circumstances. It’s funny, Christians routinely blast atheists and atheism, but we often act as if there is no God. God is in charge of this world. God is in charge of our little world. None of this happens by chance.

Faith Found Ideas for Choosing Diplomatically There are many ways to come up with a great youth group title. Inspiration can come from songs, passages of scripture, favorite verses, books, Christian humor or revisiting slogans and phrases from pop culture and turning them into a name for your group. The youth pastor or the pastoral staff may determine the name. Deciding the name can also involve a current youth group member.
Use a creative activity to determine the final name of the group. Vote Tentative names may be listed on sheets of paper and church or youth members can anonymously vote for the name they like best or feel is most reflective of the group’s mission.
Becoming a Youth Pastor’s Wife
Girls start wearing purity rings, while guys install software on their computers to protect against pornography. Despite this crusade for purity, though, statistics show that a great many of those same kids will fail miserably in the area that they were trying to succeed in. Personally, I have been through a youth group that was very similar.
